13. Avoid Trying to Understand Why PDF Print Email

Asking the question, “Why?” can lead us down a path of anger, resentment and depression. The question “Why is this happening to me?” may not have a rational answer. You can keep replaying that question over and over in your mind until it becomes your mantra, a mantra that keeps you as a victim in your own story instead of a hero. Avoid trying to understand why the situation has happened and aim your focus on why you are feeling the way you do. When you guide your focus to yourself you place yourself on a path that can lead you somewhere, a path that can give you direction and room to grow from your experience. Sometimes specific events trigger deep wounds within us and when we stop focusing on “Why did this happen to me?” and begin looking at “Why am I feeling this way?” we are given the opportunity to heal on a very deep and conscious level.
